Paddle Grand Prix Mandatory Gear!
Calling all RACERS!!! This Sunday, September 5th, is the big day we’ve been preparing for — the Paddle Grand Prix. We’ll finally get a chance to Stand Up & Throw Down against the most passionate paddlers in the Pacific NorthWest!
But in order to have the best day possible, we need to follow a small handful of rules to ensure everyone’s safety and to be LEGAL on the water. Below is a list of mandatory gear that every paddler MUST have:
- A board.
- A paddle.
- A PFD!!! This is MANDATORY GEAR. Any racers lining up to start who don’t have a PFD on their person or on their vessel will be disqualified and will not be offered a refund. Come on, y’all, Stand Up and set an example of safety for the onlookers and kids, and bring a PFD!!!
- A whistle — USCG regs mandate a whistle on all vessels.
- Clothing! It’s true… we thought about going skinny, but “Stand Up, Strip Down, & Throw Down!” didn’t have the same ring. You gotta wear a swimsuit at least.
That’s it for Mandatory Gear. The following list is RECOMMENDED GEAR:
- A coil leash, especially if the wind is blowing.
- Sunscreen.
- A hat and/or sunglasses.
- Hydration.
- Energy food, Gu, Powerbars, things like that.
- A sense of adventure.
- Plenty of “Throw Down!!!”
See you on Sunday!!!
